Product Details of Canon Speedlite 220EX Flash Light

Description

Designed for automatic operation only, the 220EX Flash Unit excels at providing natural-looking balanced flash exposures. When attached to the EOS IX, EOS Elan II/Elan IIe/IIe, or EOS Rebel G, the 220EX incorporates the superior technology of Canon's unique E-TTL evaluative pre-stored flash exposure control system, FE Lock for a new dimension of creative control and FP Flash(High Speed Sync) for flash photography up to maximum shutter speed. When used with other EOS cameras, or the T90, it operates as a TTL auto-flash (off-the-film flash metering). When in E-TTL operation, flash exposure is measured and controlled by the camera in combination with Canon's AIM system. Subject position, ambient light level, evaluative metering and pre-flash data are instantly analyzed, including heavy back-lighting or reflections from background windows or mirrors.

Great little flash

Strengths: light small nice construction

Weakness: uses AA batteries

It's a very nice basic flash. Doesn't do bounce, but it's a lot lighter than the one that does! Works great on our S5 IS. Takes 4 AA batteries, so bring a charger and spares....

Speedlite 220EX

Strengths: Compact, simple to use

Weakness: None so far

This is a great flash for the amateur photography enthusiast. One can choose to use it in fully automatic mode or Canon's E-TTL mode to sync with the camera's shutter speed. Although compact in size, the output is sufficient for most every situation.

Great small flash!

Strengths: Light weight and works great.

Weakness: None that I'm aware of.

I'm somewhat new to SLR digital photography. I bought this a couple of weeks ago. Last night I was on our porch experimenting with the flash. It was a strong afternoon sun with lots of shadows. I took pictures of my wife and other things both with and without the flash. It was amazing that even with full sun how much better the same photo was with the flash. Without the flash the backgrounds were...
