Maxtor HD 200GB

Strengths: Quiet, good price

Weakness: Incompatible with some external enclosures

After I got this hard drive, I put it into a 5.25" external HD enclosure (brand: Create I/O. This enclosure works fine for all my other internal hard drives). It appeared that this hard drive had problems with this enclosure. I lost my data twice although luckily I had other backup of the data. Then I decided to put it into PC tower. After that, it worked reliably. Therefore, be cautious when you...

Maxtor DiamondMax 10 L04P200 200 GB Internal Hard...

Strengths: Huge size for storage.

Weakness: 1 year warranty is short.

This is a great drive. It's fast (about twice as fast as my other 2 and 3 year old 7200rpm drives) and it's silent and seems to be reliable. It's also at a great price for the capacity, and it's Maxtor, a trusted name in hard drives. Installation was simple, I just popped it into my PC and it was recognized immediately. I installed the Max Blast software and the drive was partitioned, formatted...

Maxtor DiamondMax 10 L04P200 200 GB Internal Hard...

Strengths: High capacity, High speed. Stable. Easily Install. Reliable.

Weakness: N/A

This driver provides higher capacity and speed. To compare this one with others, it is easy to install and mount. I don't meet any problem during the setup. During the testing, it is quiet, fast, and not too high temperature. I really like this hard driver and would like to buy it again. Recommended!

Maxtor DiamondMax 10 L04P200 200 GB Internal Hard...

Strengths: Very fast, quiet and large capacity

Weakness: warranty is only for 1 year. I didn't find any other drawback yet.

I was looking for Seagate but found this one for a very good price ($80)so I am quite happy with the deal. I had a Seagate 5400rpm drive earlier and I can easily feel the difference in boot time and application start time with this drive. Has more than enough capacity for my use.Came with installation guide so setting it up was not a problem. Overall I'm quite satisfied with its performance.

Maxtor DiamondMax 10 L04P200 200 GB Internal Hard...

Strengths: Fast, Big and Cheap.

Weakness: None so far

I needed more space for video, previously I'd been buring data to dvd, but this is much faster and leaves my data easier to access. It comes with ultra ata cable and installation CDRom. (Need the Ultra ata cable to get U-ATA mode) Unlike my seagate drive the electronics underneath are exposed, (probably helps dissipate heat) so take care handling it.

Maxtor DiamondMax 10 L04P200 200 GB Internal Hard...

Strengths: Easy installation, well-defined jumper settings on drive case, excellent value for price.

Weakness: Only a 1 year warranty (not a 3 year warranty).

Great value for the money. 200 gigs for ~$100. Drive has a fast millisecond access rating and an 8 meg buffer. Great for general application use, photo library archives, or creating DVDs.

Maxtor DiamondMax 10 L04P200 200 GB Internal Hard...

Strengths: 8MB cache. Fast(7200 rpm), Dynamic fluid bearings so its quiet(I don't hear it run). All around nice drive so far. Software included. Manual was very helpful which is usually a pet peeve of mine!

Weakness: The 1 year Warranty Sucks. If you stand by your product, do like Seagate and make it a five year warranty. Other wise they are telling people they do not trust their own product!

Bought this drive as a replacement for a failed 60GB Quantum Fireball (Dell Dimension). Great deal with rebates it was $.50 a GB! The included Max Blast cd-rom contains useful utilities, among them are the formatting and partitioning programs. Maxtor recommends not doing an FDisk or Windows Format but rather using their proprietary software. My system wasn't prehistoric, but I had to update my...

Maxtor DiamondMax 10 L04P200 200 GB Internal Hard...

Strengths: Quiet, MaxBlast 3 Software

Weakness: None

I was looking for a good deal on drives, and picked this one up only because CompUSA had it on sale. This drive is not difficult to install; the L01P200 is a kit, so you get a ribbon cable, screws, instruction, and the MaxBlast software CD. The MaxBlast software works perfectly for initially formatting the hard drive, and installing Windows XP was no problem. Finally, the 8MB buffer does make a...

Fast, quiet, cheap

Strengths: Fast Quiet Cheap

Weakness: None yet

Could not turn this down for $80 in-store at Staples. Just wanted to clear up something about the "quiet" thing. A few reviewers say this is a noisy drive, while most say it's quiet. Those who say it's noisy are probably commenting on the read and write crunching sound heard by the drive head moving around to random locations during reads and writes. Those who say it's quiet are referring to the...

Maxtor DiamondMax 10 L04P200 200 GB Internal Hard...

Strengths: It's cheap, as fast for its price

Weakness: Non yet

How can you complain, with ATT/133 and 8mb bufferr. Have two already on the same pc and discover that it run faster on a Ultra ATA PCI card than on your motherboard.
