It covers almost all your normal shooting needs.Although I only recently got this lens for my 350D, I have two other Tamron 28-300 lenses for my 35MM film camers.When I saw this lens was available in digital format (18-200)I went on PriceGrabber and ordered it that day.The lens is comfortable to use,has a FAST AF, lens hood included and a Macro to boot. Nice Lens...too bad about the lockups (Error 99)
Strengths: Nice Zoom Range / Good Speed / Compact
Weakness: May cause "Error 99" and cause camera to lock up, requiring you to send lens in for "Recalibration"
Bought this lens with my Digital Rebel XT (EOS 350D). Kept getting intermittent Error 99 messages, although most were when I shot in bright light. Purchased a Canon brand 50mm prime and no lockups, no errors. Sending lens to Tamron for repair tomorrow. Support tech said it will have to be "recalibrated" & will probably take 6-8 weeks before I get it back.
