Good quality extension tubesStrengths: Sturdy, inexpensive Weakness: can't use ef-s lenses These tubes are sturdy enough to cope with relatively heavy lenses. I wouldn't say the same of some of the generic tubes that are cheaper. They have metal mounts and the contacts have worked perfectly for me so far.

Kenko Extension SetStrengths: Price Weakness: More play between the lens and tube compared to Canon models. I bought this set of extension tubes to replace my single Canon 25mm Extension Tube. For the money these can't be beat! The AF performs just as fast as the Canon version and it does its job at an affordable price. The only annoying thing is the play between the lens and tube (or tubes) but this is only noticeable with the longer/heavier lenses. This of course doesn’t affect the performance of...

The poor man's macroStrengths: Relatively inexpensive, lightweight, cheap method to obtain macro without shelling out $$$ for an extra macro lens Weakness: You're not actually paying for any glass Indeed this is the poor man's macro method. I recently purchased a new EOS 30D along with 2 extra lens, but didn't have much leftover to get a macro lens I wanted. A friend suggested I install these on my 50mm and they work wonderfully. The only nuisance is because you have a set of three, depending on what lens you stack, you might spend time trying to figure out which combination is best for...

Why Buy Canon?Strengths: Inexpensive Weakness: None These Kenko extension tubes are great! They have a solid construction with metal mounts and do exactly as advertised. They work perfectly with my Canon EF 100mm macro and give me greater magnification without any headache. They're simple devices that have no glass in them, so there's no need to pay Canon's higher price.

Good macro extension tubes for EOS SLR
Strengths: light, easy to use, high picture quality
Weakness: Might need to switch to manual focus when you stack all 3 rings together
Great magnification, acceptable picture quality while using with EF 24-70 f2.8 L lenses at 70 focal length. My favorite tube is the 20 mm. Auto focus can be achieve easily, and object in the picture is crispy sharp. When you stack all 3 tougher, you can get nearly 1:1 magnification at 68 mm. You have to move your lens inches away from the object and might need to switch to manual focus (not...
